Moose!!
Comments Off on Moose!!Wolf!
Comments Off on Wolf!We have a beautiful big grey wolf living near by. I’ve seen him a couple of times. Some days Mini barks and barks, lately I am assuming she is yelling at him to stay away.
Bigger cats, bigger kills…
Comments Off on Bigger cats, bigger kills…Jack brought home his first bigger kill yesterday, a chipmunk. Of course he brings it in the house, it looked so huge in his mouth! The yard is full of birds daily now so they keep pretty busy chasing. It won’t be long before they catch one. They are allowed out after dark for a while and they love it! As I’m writing this I look outside and Jack has a big mouse he’s toying with. The games continue…

Comments Off on Jack helping make jewellery…Lynx
Comments Off on LynxThere was a Lynx sitting in the driveway when we got up the other day and it has been hanging around a lot. We find his tracks all over and they are plentiful. Someone took a photo of 3 lynx together near Wells, very rare sight! They must have a good population this year.
The master at work…
Comments Off on The master at work…Barry is almost finished this painting he has been working on for 3 winters now! Almost time to get it framed up! It’s pretty amazing!!
Finally we get some snow!!
Comments Off on Finally we get some snow!!This winter has been beautiful, the snow has been clinging to the trees, it’s been very white and pretty. We had o lay one warming trend that lasted a week, otherwise it’s been very much a winter wonderland but with only about 18″ on the ground. We’ve gotten more then 12″ in the past few days and we are expecting much more this week. I am hoping this means it won’t rain all summer like last year! Nice thing about it coming late, it won’t be around for too long.
2 days worth on the wood shed….
Jack wants to paint.
Comments Off on Jack wants to paint.Jack loves water and when he heard Barry swishing his brushes in the water bowl, he came runnin’.
Until he’s sitting right on the painting. Barry shoos him away and he takes a different approach each time he comes back but does not relent. Finally we lock him outside so Barry can get peace. Tears of laughter watching this all unfold. He is so cute! He actually started swiping at the paint brush at one point. I was laughing too hard to get a photo.
If he looks tall in the first photo it’s because he is! He can reach the counter standing on his hind legs. He feels heavier daily, he eats a lot! He will be a big kitten!
Stay tuned…
Baby Jack
Comments Off on Baby JackJack still sucks his thumb, after researching it, the theory is he was taken from his mom too early but Donn has never so I think it’s just his personality. I haven’t seen him do it for a while so I thought I better document it before he stops all together. He likes to snuggle up to Donn… that’s her, not a mirror. They are extremely sweet to each other… well, until suddenly one lunges at the others throats and the (play) fight is on. So entertaining!
Lynx!!
Comments Off on Lynx!!We had a Lynx hanging out by the shop. He was beautiful. Unfortunately we did not get a photo of him but here is his track.

More cold
Comments Off on More coldThis morning at our house… inside / outside. And my new super cute cookie jar.
This is the new toy they installed behind the bar when I got to work today. Top corners… outside / inside temps … date and time at bottom. Outside does say – (minus), kind of hard to read. It’s a little chilly inside, I layer up and move around a lot. It’s a big building to heat. They have a central boiler that runs on wood and it pumps heat into all the buildings.

This is later in the day…
Just finished 12 days on with only Christmas Day off and now I work weekends only, I can get on to some other projects.
Stay tuned…
Gingerbread fun
Comments Off on Gingerbread funCold snap over
Comments Off on Cold snap overWow, we were very cold for 2 weeks! Waking up to between -25 and -30 each morning. It was getting up to -15 some days in the afternoon but it was cold! Today we woke up to -15 and celebrated! Went for a snow show this afternoon when it reached -9. We both felt it in our butts… need to get back into shape. Today we took snipers and cleared all the hanging the branches from our trail so we took longer then normal. Now it’s cleared and ready to go. Lightning creek that is at the end of the trail is completly frozen over and now we can hike either direction as far as we want. It’s so quiet, can’t hear anything at all over there. Total peace. Love it!

Mini
Comments Off on MiniYou know it’s cold out when this little one is in front of the fire. She’s usually outside cause it’s too hot inside. It’s been cold, -25 when we woke up is the coldest we’ve seen. It’s warmed up, woke up to -15 today but it’s supposed go into a deep freeze… brrrrr.
First Plough
Comments Off on First PloughOur first Plough this year was November 28. We have under a foot on the ground but it’s nice fluffy snow. The ski hill is hoping to have a soft opening on the 9th. We are all working to get things set up on the 8th so the decision will be made to open or wait a week. Everyone is very optimistic.
This was taken from my office yesterday. It snowed almost all day, today is bright and sunny.
Animals are funny…
Comments Off on Animals are funny…Watching our animals interact is very entertaining. We are pretty sure Jack thinks he is a dog. Him and Lily play well together and Jack really seems to like her but the other morning was the funniest! Lily plops when she poops… moving around leaving little bombs all over. As she plopped, Jack followed behind and covered each poop with fresh snow. He was very patient and waited for her to move on then he’d do his part. It was so cute!
A few days ago I noticed Mini struggling with a big bone we had given Lily. She was trying to get it home from the wood shed but it was too big for her mouth and she kept dropping it. After about 10 minutes watching her struggle, she finally turned, peed on it and left it in the driveway… I almost spit out my tea it was so funny. The way she strutted off I could tell she was thinking… “piss on it”… so she did.
So much fun! Stay tuned…
