Love you!

Jack with his big round eyes that always look so curious and Donn with her classic almond eyes. It keeps getting easier to tell them apart but they do fool you now and again. They trade places instantly and without you noticing … one minute it’s Donn, you turn around for a second and when you look again, it’s Jack! They are so quiet! Donn is becoming more and more snugly, Jack will hang out with you but doesn’t like to be held for very long. Love!
You can add Bats to the living room carnage! Not sure how the heck they got a bat but they did.
Last night on the way home we saw 2 fox together and then a lynx crossed in front of us on the highway. Don’t see lynx in the summer very often! It was smaller, might have been a juvenile.
A dead bunny and a dead squirrel this morning… ugh! Jack is a very big and is starting to take down bigger critters. The cats are supposed to keep growing until 18 months so he should level out in the next few months. He is so tall and lanky he can reach the counter and knocks his bowl off it with a swipe if he’s hungry and excited. He meets me at the car when I get home home with the dogs… he thinks he is a dog in so many ways… cute! Donn is getting cuddlier, she loves to snuggle but will only let me pick her. Hard to think of these sweeties as killers but they are, every day there is something in the living room.
One was a baby, getting big!
This stove is so retro and cute, I can hardly stand it! It has had a full life already and now I get to give it another chapter. Looking forward to a cozy office this winter!

Happy 3rd Anniversary to us! Burritos from Jack O Clubs Tacos for dinner now Working on a custom order painting in the new office. Love you Barry.

Woke up to a dead bunny in the living room yesterday… not cool kittens, not cool!
She’s all locked up, all windows and doors are on. The side windows open, bonus! Today Barry started sorting out the electrical. I want many many plugs so he has work cut out for him!

This bull moose was in the marsh next to the beaver hut, he was huge and had a really big rack started!
Meet Baby the mule, he lives next door to the Frog and belongs to the Theatre Royal. He's an old guy and spends his days grooming his yard. Now and then he gets to go into Barkerville, pull a small wagon around and hang out with the big horses. He's a sweetie and comes over to say hello every day now.
So glad we put the door at the north end so I can have this awesome view while I work! Minus the smoke of course. Did some nailing of the floor boards today.

We have a roof! Thank you to Len who came over and gave Barry a hand! It took them half a day to get the tin on and then Barry got his tree climbing gear out, tied himself off and nailed the rest down. This is so exciting, next the windows.

It took 7 years but the Lost Spade Crossing has finally lost its bark.

The rafters are up and have been strapped, next the roof will go on but we are having a much needed rain delay. We borrowed a tarp from Len at the ski hill, he just finished up the roof on his new shop so had a few very large tarps available. This worked out great. Barry helped Len put his roof on and then also helped put the roof on a cabin extension they are working on. He spent a total of 4 days over there roofing. Once the rain stops, we are ready to finish up the roof then we can get the windows in and lock it up… so excited!

Barry hand painting a Secret Society sign for the Frog. He framed it with barn wood, Looks great hanging outside.

First piece created in the new office!
The cats are no longer leaving carcasses on the floor each night, now it is critter parts being left. Usually a head and one organ they don't eat… no sure which organ it is but it's always the same one. They are pretty upset it's raining out today…

We just went through about 2 weeks of 30 plus weather, not a cloud in the sky. (We also had very little smoke which we feel pretty lucky about). That much heat for that long is unheard of around here! It was brutal! The last 2 days were very smokey and last night the rain came… yahoo! It is still pretty smokey today but kind of hard to tell exactly how smokey with the rain and cloud. We are hoping it rains for a week or even two weeks straight! Actually, let's just go from the rain right into snow so we can get all of these fires out. It's just so overwhelming how much of the province is on fire and how many people are effected. Please let it rain on everyone for as long as they need it.
Last night was so weird! I worked until 9 and at about 7 it was like the dead of night the smoke was so thick. Then at about 8:30 the rain started… even darker outside! My drive home was a challenge. I always drive the truck if I'm going to be late, I can see much better at night in it, the lights are higher and illuminate the highway much better. It was dark from the smoke and the sun had just gone down which can be a tricky time to be on this highway, it was pouring rain and the ground fog started to lift. I've never seen ground fog like on this highway, pretty much every evening the shift into cooler night air creates a very thick ground fog and makes driving tricky. The combination of all of these elements made for a very slow drive home.
I haven't see a bear or moose for over a week, I think it got too hot for the moose too.
Stay tuned…
And another huge porcupine!
