We just went through about 2 weeks of 30 plus weather, not a cloud in the sky. (We also had very little smoke which we feel pretty lucky about). That much heat for that long is unheard of around here! It was brutal! The last 2 days were very smokey and last night the rain came… yahoo! It is still pretty smokey today but kind of hard to tell exactly how smokey with the rain and cloud. We are hoping it rains for a week or even two weeks straight! Actually, let's just go from the rain right into snow so we can get all of these fires out. It's just so overwhelming how much of the province is on fire and how many people are effected. Please let it rain on everyone for as long as they need it.

Last night was so weird! I worked until 9 and at about 7 it was like the dead of night the smoke was so thick. Then at about 8:30 the rain started… even darker outside! My drive home was a challenge. I always drive the truck if I'm going to be late, I can see much better at night in it, the lights are higher and illuminate the highway much better. It was dark from the smoke and the sun had just gone down which can be a tricky time to be on this highway, it was pouring rain and the ground fog started to lift. I've never seen ground fog like on this highway, pretty much every evening the shift into cooler night air creates a very thick ground fog and makes driving tricky. The combination of all of these elements made for a very slow drive home.

I haven't see a bear or moose for over a week, I think it got too hot for the moose too.

Stay tuned…
